Why Live For Today?

With our many years of experience we have established ourselves as leading providers of a wide range of outdoor learning.

Our experience, knowledge and understanding enables us to provide you with a programme specifically suited to your requirements. Activities can be delivered at our sites or at a suitable venue of your choice or within your school environment.

Licensed by the AALS, our instructors and guides are highly qualified in all activity sessions to strict Health & Safety standards endorsed by the National Governing Bodies.

We understand the ever-changing challenges that you face in organising outdoor learning. Live for Today’s Codes of Practice and Risk Assessments are available for your use to help reduce the stress of pre-programme planning.

We seek to raise expectations and attainment by enriching and enhancing your learners curriculum through outdoor learning.

We provide activities to a wide range of learners through the curriculum and enhanced learning from Key Stage 2 right through to further and higher education.

“We pride ourselves on our friendly, flexible and approachable attitude. The quality of your experience and learning is our priority.”

Turning Students into Successful Learners

education3

Our ethos is based upon enabling participants of all ages and abilities to enjoy, improve and succeed within a range of outdoor activities. All of our courses embed progressive and ongoing opportunities for learners to develop confidence and competence, creativity and initiative, the skills and techniques vital to enhance their performance.

They develop the confidence to take part in different and more challenging activities whilst learning the value of a healthy active lifestyle.

We actively engage students in a cycle of practical experiential learning within the outdoor environment. The extension of the plan-do-review process is applied to enable all learners to realise and activate their full potential, and progress through their own personal development needs.

Outdoor activities provide opportunities to link with many other curriculum areas and facilitate cross-curricular approaches to learning such as:

  • problem solving
  • effective teamwork
  • leadership skills
  • effective communication
  • decision making
  • building self-reliance
  • taking responsibility for self and team members

Helped by our empathetic instructors, learners are facilitated to review and self-evaluate by themselves, encouraging them to identify what they’ve learnt in terms of personal development, raised self-confidence, self-esteem and sense of achievement.

Evaluation and assessment supports and validates outdoor learning. Oral and written feedback teamed with photographs and video not only document activities but act as a reminder of a memorable event.

“As a member of staff accompanying a group of students I always felt totally secure that the instructors knew exactly what they were doing and were totally in control. The experience and personality of the instructors is inspiring in its own right.”
Jo Paxton | Head of Year 10, Harry Carlton School
"We visited Wastwater YHA with forty musicians. All our instructors were well-informed, friendly and great fun! They really got to know our students. They were sensitive to their abilities and made our visit incredibly memorable. As a result all of our students achieved far more than they could have imagined."
Anna Heaney - Head of Music, Mill Hill County High School
“Having lead many camps involving over 1000 students I can wholeheartedly recommend using Geoff and his Team. They are competent, enthusiastic and experienced without exception and have made a lasting and significant contribution to the students of Harry Carlton School”
John Flint - Post 16 Learning Manager
"Live for Today instructors are fun, friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. They are sensitive to individual needs, and encourage children appropriately to explore their capabilities."
Rick Ashley - Curriculum Leader Environment, Royston School
"The really great part about working on such challenges is you see children make progress in front of your eyes. One moment they are reluctant and apprehensive, the next they are full of courage and game for anything."
Tim Coleman - Headteacher, Tebay Community Primary School
