Tomahawk Axe Throwing in Leeds, York & Harrogate

Available at our popular activity centres Axe throwing in Leeds, York and Harrogate is a fantastic experience that, just like our targets, you won’t want to miss.

We don’t imagine that many of our visitors will turn up as experienced axe throwers, and that’s just perfect, because our axe throwing activity is suitable for all abilities and levels of challenge – including complete beginners.

As with all of our target-based activities here at Live for Today (Crossbows, Archery, Air Rifle Shooting), your axe throwing session will start with a full safety briefing from our highly qualified and skilled instructors. They’ll explain what to do – and what not to do - when handling your very own axe.

After our instructors have demonstrated a range of throwing techniques, you’ll get the chance to try them all out for yourself; from simple overarm to double handed throws, and even onto backwards and double axe throws if you dare!

And, before your arms get too tired, our experienced instructors will be on hand (and arm) to introduce you to games and challenges including Outside In, Zombie Hunt and Hit the Playing Card. Our Axe Throwing instructors are experienced and passionate Axe Throwers and we’re confident we can get you sticking the axe each and every time.

Once your technique is mastered we will then play a variety of fun competitions to see who really is the ultimate Viking.

The final game usually offers the chance to cut a playing card from distance, what’s more if you cut the card you get to keep it…we can’t say any better than that.

Extreme Quad biking I booked this experience for my partner birthday an when he was let down by his friends I had to step in but was extremely frightened as I haven't done quad biking before. Daz our instructor was great at reassuring me an ensuring I knew how to operate the bike. Daz was extremely patient and very reassuring with me. When Daz could see I was comfortable on the bike an had my bearings he pushed our skills to the next level making the course fun and exciting. It was by far one the best experiences I have had, I pulled up at the end with such an adrenaline rush wanting to do the course again. Thanks Daz for making our experience exciting and safe we be back.

Axe Throwing Frequently Asked Questions

What type of axe throws will we do?

Unlike other ranges, we won’t just leave you to it. Our instructors are on hand for the full session to teach you a variety of throws which include Single Arm, Double Arm, The Viking and Underarm, just to name a few!

Is it safe?

Yes, our axes are the real deal and not the plastic ones you were used to as a kid. You will be learning how to throw these axes in a designed and controlled area with a fully trained instructor who will ensure you are safe at all times.

How strong do I need to be?

The Axes are a little heavy, however you don’t need to be superman to throw them successfully. We have had a mixture of groups successfully hit the target…some first time!

What is the minimum age to take part?

The minimum age to take part is 12 years old. Please note that some 12 year olds do struggle to throw the axes fully. We will always do our best to move the targets closer should this be a problem.

What to wear to Axe throwing?

As with all of our activities we recommend you dress for the outdoors. We also recommend you wear sturdy footwear for axe throwing. Please reach out if you have any questions, we will be more than happy to help you further.

What not to wear axe throwing?

Try to avoid restrictive clothing that could limit your range of motion. Also, avoid wearing jewellery, long scarves or anything else that might basically restrict your ability to move your body effectively.

Will there be other people on my session?

If you are a large group (6 or more) it is very likely you will have exclusive use of the range.

However, if you are a smaller group then there is a chance other people may also be on your session. Don't worry though, we have plenty of axes for the increased competition.
